How to find and export your Twilio data.
Twilio tracks recordings in usage records: the recording storage category reports how many recordings are stored and their total minutes. Anyone with access to the account can see usage and Call Recordings in Console. Divide stored minutes by 60 and report hours.
Where Twilio shows how much you have.
- Sign in to the Twilio Console and open Call Recordings (in the legacy Console, Recording Logs) to browse recordings.
- Check usage for the call recordings and recording storage categories. Recording storage shows the number of stored recordings and stored minutes, and a developer can pull all-time totals from the Usage Records API.
- Use Monitor > Insights > Voice for recent call counts, keeping in mind it shows 7 days of calls, or 30 days with Voice Insights Advanced Features.
Plan and role. You need Console access to the Twilio account or API credentials for it. The 30-day Voice Insights view requires Advanced Features to be turned on under Monitor > Insights > Voice > Settings.
What to report on the Polyshares intake.
Report Twilio in hours. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.
Report hours from recording storage usage: stored recorded minutes divided by 60. This counts audio still held in the account, not recordings that were deleted earlier.
For years in use, use the account creation date or the date of the oldest recording returned by the API. Twilio has no per-seat license, so report the number of agents or users who make or take calls through your application.
Export the full history.
- A developer lists recordings with the Recordings API, filtering by date created and paging up to 1,000 results per page.
- Download each recording as a WAV file at 128 kbps or an MP3 at 32 kbps. Media URLs require your account credentials.
Twilio bills recording storage for each stored minute every month, and recordings stay until you delete them. After a recording is deleted its metadata stays available for 40 days. Voice Insights data is kept for only 30 days, so it is not a source of long call history.
A full export is an API job rather than a Console download. Transcriptions exist only where they were turned on and are billed separately.
The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.
Why Twilio data has value for AI training.
Twilio recordings usually come from a company's own call flows, such as a support line, dispatch desk or appointment line, so the audio reflects a process the business designed and can be matched to that application's records.
What stays private.
Because the recordings sit in your own Twilio account, you decide which phone numbers, applications and date ranges are pulled.
We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.
Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.
Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.
