How to find and export your Linear data.

Linear does not show a storage figure or a single issue total for the workspace. The dependable count is the number of rows in the workspace CSV export, which admins can run from settings. Report issues as records.

Where Linear shows how much you have.

  1. Sign in as a workspace admin. On Enterprise plans, only owners can export.
  2. Open Settings > Administration > Import Export, turn on private teams if you have them and click Export data.
  3. Open the emailed CSV and count the rows. Each row is one issue.

Plan and role. Workspace exports need the admin role, or the owner role on Enterprise. Guests cannot export, and the Free plan is limited to 250 issues.

What to report on the Polyshares intake.

Report Linear in records. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.

Report the issue row count as records. For years in use, sort the CSV by its created timestamp and take the oldest year. Seats are the members billed on your plan, which the members CSV in Settings lists.

Export the full history.

  1. Go to Settings > Administration > Import Export and click Export data at the bottom, with private teams toggled on if needed.
  2. Download the CSV from the emailed link within 12 hours, when it expires.
  3. For comment threads and attachment files, have a developer pull issues and comments through the Linear API.

The workspace CSV includes 23 issue fields such as title, description, status, priority, project, assignee, labels, cycle, parent issue and timestamps. It does not include attachment files, though links can appear in descriptions, and the documented field list has no comment column. Exports from individual views cap at 250 issues for members and 2,000 for admins.

The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.

Why Linear data has value for AI training.

Linear issues are written by product and engineering teams in short, precise language and grouped into cycles, projects and initiatives. Joined to status and parent issues, they show how software teams scope and ship work.

What stays private.

Private teams are left out of the export unless you turn them on, so you control whether they are included.

We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.

Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.

Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.
