How to find and export your SAP data.
SAP is a family of products, and none gives business users one screen with the total data size. In SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, transaction DB02 shows database statistics such as growth and tablespace size, and your SAP basis administrator can read the figure. Report database size in GB.
Where SAP shows how much you have.
- Ask your SAP basis administrator or SAP partner which SAP product and database the company runs.
- For SAP ECC or S/4HANA, have the basis team run transaction DB02 and read the current database size and growth history.
- For SAP Business One, ask whoever manages the SQL Server or SAP HANA database for the size of the company database.
Plan and role. DB02 is a basis administration transaction that most business users are not authorized to run. For SAP Business One, database access sits with your IT team or SAP partner.
What to report on the Polyshares intake.
Report SAP in GB. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.
Report database size in GB. SAP spreads one business document across many tables, so a single record count is hard to define, and database size is a figure the basis team can give quickly. The figure includes indexes and system data, so it overstates business data somewhat.
For years in use, use the go-live date of the SAP system. For seats, count named SAP users.
Export the full history.
- Agree the scope with your basis team or SAP partner first: which company codes, modules and years.
- For SAP ECC or S/4HANA, the basis team or partner extracts the agreed tables using the tools your license and hosting allow. There is no single export button for business users.
- For SAP Business One on SQL Server, take a full backup with the remote support platform for SAP Business One or with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
The remote support platform for SAP Business One can run scheduled full, differential and transaction log backups to a disk or network share, including SAP Business One subdirectories. A SQL Server Management Studio backup needs those subdirectories copied by hand, and SAP Business One Product Support only accepts backups on destination disks.
For SAP ECC and S/4HANA, the extraction method and any license terms depend on your contract and hosting. Confirm both with your SAP account team or partner before anyone pulls data.
The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.
Why SAP data has value for AI training.
SAP records the operations of large companies end to end: purchase orders, goods movements, production orders and financial postings, with document flow linking each step. Few other sources show how complex supply chains run at that level of detail.
What stays private.
The basis team extracts only the company codes, modules and years the company agrees to share.
We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.
Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.
Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.
Common questions about SAP data.
Can a finance user find our SAP data size?
Usually not. DB02 is a basis administration tool, so ask your basis team or SAP partner for the database size.
Does SAP Business One have a backup tool?
Yes. The remote support platform for SAP Business One can run scheduled full, differential and transaction log backups to a disk or network share. You can also back up with SQL Server Management Studio.
Why report GB instead of records for SAP?
One SAP business document spans many tables, so record counts are hard to compare. Database size is a consistent figure your basis team can pull from DB02.
