How to find and export your BigCommerce data.

BigCommerce does not show a total data size. Export all orders from Orders > Export Orders, count unique order IDs and report that total as records. You need the Manage Orders and Export Orders permissions.

Where BigCommerce shows how much you have.

Confirm your user has the Manage Orders and Export Orders permissions.
Go to Orders > Export Orders, pick the Default template and CSV, and run the export.
Count unique Order ID values in the file. An order shipped to more than one address can take more than one row.

Plan and role. Any BigCommerce store. Exporting orders needs the Manage Orders and Export Orders permissions, and creating export templates needs Manage Export Templates.

What to report on the Polyshares intake.

Report BigCommerce in records. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.

Report unique orders as records. For years in use, take the oldest order date in the export. For seats, count control panel user accounts.

Export the full history.

Go to Orders > Export Orders, choose Default or a custom template, choose CSV, and select Save export to the server for later download? if you have more than 1,000 orders.
Click Continue, then Start export, then Download my Orders file.
Export products from Products > Export, and export customers, with the Bulk Edit template, which includes nearly all exportable fields.

Order exports are CSV or XML and include only the fields in the chosen template. To add columns, copy the Default template under Settings > Export templates and edit it. Exports saved to the server land in the exports folder in WebDAV. Orders can be exported from the control panel, but importing orders requires the API.

The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.

Common questions about BigCommerce data.

How do I export orders for certain years only?

Go to Orders, Search, set a custom period under Search by Date with the date type set to Order date, run the search, then click Export all. Every order in the results is exported, not just the first page.

Why does one order appear on several rows?

Products shipped to different addresses split an order across rows, one per shipping destination.

What permissions do I need to export from BigCommerce?

Manage Orders and Export Orders to export orders, and Manage Export Templates to create or edit export templates.
