How to find and export your Mixpanel data.
Mixpanel shows event counts, not storage. Usage for the current billing period and past periods sits under Organization Settings > Plan Details & Billing, with history on the Data Usage tab. Report GB if you have exported raw events; otherwise report total events as records and note that they are events.
Where Mixpanel shows how much you have.
- Open Organization Settings and select the Plan Details & Billing tab.
- Read this billing period's usage on the right side, then open the Data Usage tab for past periods.
- Add up monthly events across the months you still have. Mixpanel counts events by when they reach its servers, so backdated imports count in the month they arrived.
Plan and role. Plan Details & Billing lives in Organization Settings, so you need organization level admin access. Free plans include up to 1 million monthly events and Growth plans bought after February 2025 include the first 1 million free.
What to report on the Polyshares intake.
Report Mixpanel in GB. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.
Report GB when you have run a raw export, using the total size of the JSONL files from the Raw Event Export API or your Data Pipelines bucket. Without an export, report total events as records and note that the number is events.
Years in use runs from your first tracked month, but Mixpanel's default event retention is 2 years, so older events may be gone unless your contract keeps them longer. For seats, count the users with access to your Mixpanel organization.
Export the full history.
- Call the Raw Event Export API for each project with a from_date and to_date, using a service account or the project secret. Use the data-eu or data-in host if the project stores data in the EU or India.
- Pull history in date slices, such as one month per request, save each response as a JSONL file, and total the file sizes for your GB number.
- On Growth or Enterprise with the Data Pipelines add-on, you can instead send events on a schedule to S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift Spectrum or Snowflake.
The Raw Event Export API returns every event with its properties as JSONL and allows 60 queries per hour, 3 per second and 100 concurrent queries. It can only return events Mixpanel still keeps: the default retention period has been 2 years since September 1, 2025, and longer retention needs your account team.
Data Pipelines is a paid add-on for Growth and Enterprise with a 30 day trial, and a backfill can start at most 6 months in the past, so use the API for older history. CSV downloads from reports stop at 10,000 rows, or 50,000 for some Insights views on Enterprise, and user profiles export separately through the Engage API.
The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.
Why Mixpanel data has value for AI training.
Mixpanel event streams capture each step a user takes, with properties such as platform, plan and referrer attached. Across two years or more, they show how real users adopt features, how funnels convert and how usage shifts after each release.
What stays private.
Distinct IDs, user profile fields and any personal event properties are removed or replaced before anything moves.
We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.
Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.
Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.
Common questions about Mixpanel data.
How long does Mixpanel keep raw events?
The default event retention period is 2 years, effective September 1, 2025. If you need longer retention, contact your Mixpanel account team.
Can Data Pipelines backfill my whole history?
No. A pipeline backfill can start at most 6 months in the past, and trial pipelines backfill only one day. Use the Raw Event Export API for older events.
How long does a full raw export take?
It depends on volume. The API allows 60 queries per hour and 3 per second, so a large project exported in monthly or daily slices can take hours or days.
