How to find and export your Google Analytics data.
If your GA4 property is linked to BigQuery, report the analytics dataset's size in GB, which BigQuery reports as total logical bytes. Without a link, GA4 only shows event counts in Reports > Engagement > Events; report those as records and note they are events.
Where Google Analytics shows how much you have.
- In Google Analytics, open Admin > Product links > BigQuery links to see whether the property exports to a BigQuery project.
- If it does, query INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLE_STORAGE for that Google Cloud project and region, add up total_logical_bytes for the Analytics dataset, and convert to GB.
- If it does not, open Reports > Engagement > Events, set the widest date range, and note the total Event count.
- Check Admin > Data Settings > Data Retention to see how long event level data is kept for explorations.
Plan and role. Changing data retention or creating a BigQuery link needs the Editor role or higher on the property, and linking also needs Owner access on the BigQuery project. Reading table storage needs access to that Google Cloud project.
What to report on the Polyshares intake.
Report Google Analytics in GB. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.
Report GB from BigQuery when the property is linked.
Years in use for GA4 starts at the property's first collected data. Universal Analytics history counts only if you exported it before July 2024. For seats, count users with access to the property.
Export the full history.
- In Admin > Product links > BigQuery links, click Link, choose a Google Cloud project, and select the daily export. Add the streaming export if the property sends more than 1 million events a day.
- Enable billing on the Google Cloud project before relying on the export, because BigQuery sandbox tables expire after 60 days and sandbox storage is capped at 10 GiB.
- Data starts arriving within 24 hours and accumulates from the link date forward, so link as early as possible.
BigQuery export has no backfill; it only holds events from the day the link was made. Standard properties can send up to 1 million events a day in the daily export, and Google pauses the daily export if a property keeps exceeding it. Streaming export has no event limit but adds BigQuery cost, and Analytics 360 raises the daily limit to 20 billion events.
Inside GA4, event level data for explorations and funnel reports is kept for 2 or 14 months on standard properties and up to 50 months on 360, while standard aggregated reports are not affected. Universal Analytics data is gone: Google ended all access and deleted it starting the week of July 1, 2024, and only copies exported before then, such as BigQuery backfills, remain.
The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.
Why Google Analytics data has value for AI training.
GA4 event exports record how visitors reach and move through a website or app: landing pages, page sequences, sessions, conversions, and the device and traffic source behind each. Over years, that history shows how real audiences respond to content, pricing pages and campaigns.
What stays private.
Client IDs, user IDs, approximate location and any personal event parameters are removed or replaced before anything moves.
We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.
Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.
Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.
Common questions about Google Analytics data.
Can I still export my Universal Analytics history?
No. Standard Universal Analytics properties stopped processing data on July 1, 2023, and starting the week of July 1, 2024 Google removed all access and deleted the data. Only data you exported before then, for example to BigQuery, still exists.
Does linking BigQuery now give me past GA4 data?
No. The BigQuery export starts after you link the property and does not backfill history. Data usually starts arriving within 24 hours.
What if my property sends more than 1 million events a day?
Standard properties are limited to 1 million events a day in the daily export, and Google pauses the daily export if you keep going over. Use the streaming export, which has no event limit, or filter out events you do not need.
