How to find and export your Google Meet data.

Google Meet recordings are saved to the meeting organizer's Google Drive, in the Google Meet folder with one subfolder per meeting. On editions that include Vault, admins can search every recording by owner, meeting ID and start time. Report recorded hours.

Where Google Meet shows how much you have.

  1. In Vault, open a matter and search Drive and Meet data across all accounts for Meet recordings. Vault can search recordings by title, owner, meeting ID and recording start time.
  2. Without Vault, have each organizer open Drive and check the Google Meet folder, including Legacy Meet Recordings for recordings made before July 2026.
  3. For meeting activity, go to Reporting > Audit and investigation > Meet log events in the Admin console. Records include Duration (seconds) per participant and export to Sheets or CSV.

Plan and role. Recording works on Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Essentials Plus. Meet log events need the Audit & Investigation privilege, and Vault needs an edition that includes it or a Vault license.

What to report on the Polyshares intake.

Report Google Meet in hours. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.

Enter total recorded hours with hours as the unit. If you only have file sizes, measure hours per GB on a few recordings and scale. Do not report Meet log event durations as recorded hours, because they count all meeting time, recorded or not. For years in use, use the oldest recording date. For seats, count users on an edition that allows recording.

Export the full history.

  1. In Vault, run the search for Meet recordings across all accounts and click Export. Drive exports arrive as compressed files of up to 10 GB each with an XML metadata file.
  2. Download the export within 15 days, after which Vault deletes it.
  3. Without Vault, a super admin can go to Data > Data import & export > Data export in the Admin console and export all users, which includes their Drive files.

Recordings capture the active speaker and anything presented, and a recording stops after 8 hours. Recordings use Drive storage, and both the organization and the person recording need enough free Drive space. Meet chat logs are saved as SBV files when continuous meeting chat is off, and attendance is saved as a Sheets file.

The Data Export tool needs a super admin with 2-Step Verification, typically takes 72 hours and can take up to 14 days. It does not export deleted files unless Vault retained them.

The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.

Why Google Meet data has value for AI training.

Meet recordings pair speech with the slides and screens being discussed, and attendance sheets and chat logs sit beside them. Together they show how a meeting ran from the first agenda item to the decision.

What stays private.

Recordings stay owned by each organizer, and you choose which organizers or organizational units to include.

We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.

Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.

Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.

Common questions about Google Meet data.

Where did our Meet Recordings folder go?

Starting July 2026, Google renamed the existing Meet Recordings folder to Legacy Meet Recordings and moved it inside a new Google Meet folder. Old links still work, and new recordings go into a subfolder for each meeting.

Which Google Workspace editions can record Meet calls?

Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Essentials Plus. An admin also has to allow recording in the Admin console.

Is there a maximum Google Meet recording length?

Yes. A meeting can be recorded for 8 hours in total, and then the recording stops.
