How to find and export your Discord data.

Discord does not show a total message count for a server, and its help center describes no export of a server's full history. Community servers with more than 500 members get Server Insights, with up to 120 days of engagement data. Report messages as an estimate.

Check your data

Where Discord shows how much you have.

  1. Check whether your server is a Community server with more than 500 members. Only those servers get Server Insights.
  2. Open Server Insights with an account that has the View Server Insights permission and review engagement data such as weekly communicators and the most used channels.
  3. If Insights is not available, have the staff accounts that post most request their Data Packages and count the messages in them. Treat that as a floor, not a total.

Plan and role. Server Insights needs a Community server with more than 500 members and the View Server Insights permission. Any account with a verified email address can request a Data Package.

What to report on the Polyshares intake.

Report Discord in messages. The intake also asks how many years the company has used it and how many seats it has.

Enter your best message estimate, use messages as the unit, and say it is an estimate. For years in use, use the server's creation date or the oldest message still in your busiest channel. For seats, count the accounts that post for your company, such as staff and moderators, not the full public membership.

Export the full history.

  1. Each person opens User Settings > Data & Privacy and submits a data request, selecting the data they want included.
  2. Discord emails a download link to the account's address, which can take up to 30 days. The ZIP holds JSON files, with sent messages in folders for direct messages, group messages and each channel.

A Data Package contains only the messages that person sent, only for servers they belong to now or left recently, and never messages they deleted. Discord's help center offers no owner-level export of everything in a server, and third party bots and export tools are not Discord products, so review Discord's Terms of Service before using one.

The intake only needs the size, so you do not have to run an export to fill it in. You also do not need to clean or scrub an export. Polyshares handles anonymization before anything moves.

Why Discord data has value for AI training.

Company-run Discord servers often hold support threads, product feedback and questions answered by staff. The messages your own team sent carry that expertise even when they are only one side of the conversation.

What stays private.

Each person controls their own Data Package, and Discord does not let anyone export another member's messages.

We anonymize identifying details before anything moves. Polyshares does that work, so your team does not have to scrub records first.

Your company keeps ownership of its data. The license is bounded to defined material and a defined use.

Polyshares is the buyer and pays your company directly. There is no fee or commission, and Polyshares reviews the record before it makes any offer.

Common questions about Discord data.

Can a Discord server owner export all messages in the server?

Not through Discord. The help center describes no server-wide export, and each person can request only their own messages through a Data Package.

Does a Discord Data Package include messages other people sent?

No. The messages folder contains only messages you sent, organized into direct messages, group messages and channels.

How long does a Discord data request take?

Discord says it can take up to 30 days. You have to wait for one request to finish before submitting another.
